Delete your data

How to delete data associated with the Fernweh app, including if you have already uninstalled it.

Fernweh has no accounts and no servers. There is no BearMo Studios account to delete, and we hold no copy of your journal. Everything the app stores is on your device, and you can remove all of it yourself — no request, no waiting, no need to contact us.

Delete one entry

In the app, swipe the entry in your hikes list and choose Delete, or open the entry and delete it there. This permanently removes the entry along with its notes, photos and recorded route.

Delete everything

Delete the Fernweh app from your iPhone. Touch and hold the app icon, choose Remove App, then Delete App. iOS destroys the app’s entire storage container, which is where the whole journal lives. Nothing of it remains on the device.

Two things to know:

  • This cannot be undone, and we cannot restore it — we never had a copy.
  • Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Cancel separately in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Fernweh.

Copies in your device backups

If iPhone backups are enabled, the app’s data may still exist inside an older backup held by Apple or on your computer. Those backups are yours and are managed by Apple, not by us. To clear them, manage or delete the backup in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Backups, or delete local backups in Finder or iTunes.

If you have already uninstalled the app

Nothing further is required. Uninstalling removed the data from your device, and there is no server-side copy at BearMo Studios to delete. You do not need to reinstall Fernweh to delete your data.

Making a deletion request in writing

If you would like a deletion request on record — for example to have support correspondence you sent us erased — email support@bearmostudios.com with the subject “Data deletion request.”

  • What we can delete: any email correspondence between you and BearMo Studios, and the email address it came from.
  • What we cannot delete: your in-app journal (we have no access to it — use the steps above), and App Store purchase records, which are held by Apple under Apple’s policies. Contact Apple for those.
  • Timeframe: we confirm within 5 business days and complete deletion within 30 days.
  • Retention: we do not retain support correspondence beyond what is needed to resolve your issue, and no longer than 24 months, unless a law requires otherwise.
